25 | On March 12, 2024 at approximately 2:35pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Catrina Quimb and Melissa Zaragoza, conducted an unannounced, case management visit. LPAs met with preschool principal, Amanda Driscoll, and explained the purpose of the visit. No enrolled children were present during visit.
Preschool program currently operates at Sunnybrae Elementary School in classroom #5 only. Facility completed construction to classroom #5, requested a visit for newly renovated room and to increase preschool capacity to 48 children. Principal requested to add classroom #7 and sensory room (in between classroom #5 and #7). Fire clearance was obtained February 13, 2024.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. LPAs inspected classrooms for health and safety hazards and measured to calculate capacity.
Indoors: On this date, classroom #5 was measured for 867.40 sq. ft. allowing for a capacity of 24 children. Classroom #7 was measured for 867.49 sq. ft. allowing for a capacity of 24 children. The sensory room (located between classroom #5 and classroom #7) was measured for 472.61 sq. ft. allowing for a capacity of 13 children. Due to sensory room being a multi-purpose area, classroom will not be counted towards overall square footage. Total indoor square footage is 1,734.89 sq. ft. allowing for a capacity of 49 children.
LPAs observed classrooms to be clean, equipped with new furniture. Children's toys and materials were observed to be age appropriate and in good condition. Storage space for children's personal belongings are located inside the classroom. Both classrooms are equipped with a fire alarm implemented by school district. Per principal, smoke detectors in classrooms are dual smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. LPAs observed at least one fully stocked first aid kit. Licensing documents are properly posted and available for review. Garbage bins in classrooms and bathroom include a tight fitting lid.
