25 | On January 16, 2025 at approximately 8:40am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Catrina Quimbo conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with director, Marlene Coe, and explained the purpose of the visit. Upon LPA's arrival, children were arriving to facility.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday with half days (8:15am to 1:00pm), full days (8:15am to 3:15pm) and after hours care (8:15am to 5:00pm).
Present during LPA's visit included 6 teaching staff (including director) and 30 preschool children. All teaching staff have fingerprint clearance on file. Preschool is operating within capacity limits and ratio during LPA's visit.
At approximately 10:00am, LPA inspected day care areas, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards with director. Preschool program operates in 3 classrooms: Studio classroom #1 (ages 2 years to young 3 year olds), studio classroom #2 (ages 2 years to young 3 year olds), and studio classroom #3 (ages 3 years to 5 years old).
LPA observed classrooms to be clean and organized. LPA observed exit doors to classrooms to have a sound alarm system installed. There are rugs in the classrooms that are free of stains. Per director, rugs are vacuumed daily. LPA observed classrooms to be equipped with a variety of children's toys and materials that are in good condition.
LPA observed each classroom to include activities for reading, arts and crafts and dramatic play. Per director, toys and materials are changed monthly. LPA observed cleaning solutions and chemicals to be made inaccessible behind child safety locked cabinets. LPA observed cabinets and drawers in each classroom to have child safety locks installed.
Storage for children's belongings are located inside (cubbies) and outside (hooks) the classroom, labeled with children's names. Children sleep in each classroom on cots or mats. Sheets are provided by the program that are laundered weekly or as needed. Children's individual blankets are stored appropriately and are also sent home weekly for laundering. LPA observed floor mats to be stored appropriately, so sheets are not touching each other. LPA also observed floor mats and cots to be appropriately labeled with children's individual names.
