On November 16th, 2022 at 1:45PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Breault conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA met with facility director Ana Schmid advised her the purpose of the inspection. LPA conducted a Covid-19 prescreening and no exposure on site. Director provided LPA a tour of the facility inside and out. The center operates from 7:45AM – 5:15PM Monday Friday. At the time of the inspection there were forty-nine (49) children in care and six (6) teachers.

LPA observed required licensing documents mounted on the wall at the entrance of the facility. Facility uses Procare electronic app for sign in and out purposes. LPA observed the facility has three (3) restrooms for use with ample sinks, toilets and urinals which are functioning and clean. The facility utilizes five (5) classrooms all contain age appropriate toys and furniture readily accessible for children in care, and offer ample ventilation. LPA observed first aid kits available for use in classrooms. Children use their own water bottles which are labeled with their names. Facility offers filter water both inside and outside. LPA observed all cleaning compounds, disinfectants, sharps, and tools to be inaccessible to children and / or locked in a cabinet. Children bring one (1) lunch and (2) snacks from home, no food is served at the facility. Cots are provided for napping that are separated, disinfected daily, and children’s bedding is individually contained.

The outdoor area has an ample amount of space / shade for children to play with and appropriate toys, and disinfectant solution is inaccessible to children. No bodies of water are present.

Incident Medical Services are being provided. LPA observed one locked medical box, inaccessible to children, containing child’s medication with unaltered label, and not expired. Medication paperwork present and current.

A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. LPA observed children's files to be complete and current. LPA observed staff files to be complete and current. LPA verified SB792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis (TB) requirements. LPA reviewed staff file for Teacher G. Semenza and TB test was not present. Teacher and director indicated she does have it however unable to reach the doctor at this time. In discussions with LPA, director stated she is new in this capacity and files are currently being reviewed/updated. Due to these circumstances, a technical violation is issued. Teacher present has current Pediatric CPR/First-Aid certificates that is valid until 8/19/2024. Teachers present have current Mandated Reporter certificates that are valid.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation interpretations and procedures for Child Care Centers sections 101173 and 101226.
