25 | On March 28th, 2022, LPAs Austin Rios and Rosie Breault conducted a Case Management- Other Inspection to follow up on Action Level Exceedance (ALE) reported to the Regional Office by WWD. LPAs met director, Beth Hassenplug and conducted COVID-19 pre screening questions prior to initiating the inspection.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test. If the water testing results indicate that the facility has an ALE, an immediate response shall be required pursuant to section 101704, which may include remediation.
The Regional Office received an ALE for three different water outlets in this facility. The Center was notified by LPA of the results on March 3rd, 2022 by phone and email. LPA received a response from director stating the center has taken the following steps as a Plan of Correction (POC): Shutoff and label the three outlets, parental notification of the water testing results via phone call to the parents in the Beach room and Parent square for the whole school. The testing report will be posted when received. Outlet "B" will be replaced and tested again according to the schedule and procedures in PIN 21-21-CCP, it will remain labeled and out of use until testing is complete and results received. Outlet "C" will be removed from the outlet list for the ECC and labeled “No Use by ECC”. This outlet is in a Church office on the ECC level, and its removal does not impact the ECC. Its remediation will be overseen by the First Presbyterian Church. Outlet "N" has not been used in years and will be completely removed.
During today’s inspection, LPAs toured the entire facility and inspected the outlets in question. LPA found them labeled, tapped, and sectioned off. Director stated the facility will provide bottled water for children and staff until written report is received and the specific results for all outlets is posted |
