25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kristin Kontilis conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection. The facility has submitted a Mitigation Plan to the Department. LPA arrived at 12:55 pm and was greeted by Tasha Addison, Vice President of South Santa Barbara Division and Reyes Rios, Assistant Program Coordinator. Carla Rangel, Administrator was unavailable at the time of the visit. At the time of arrival, there were 10 staff on duty and seventeen (17) participants present. LPA informed staff of the purpose of the visit.
The program is a non-profit Adult Day Program. The facility operation is in a building owned by PathPoint. The program is part of PathPoint, a non-profit corporation 501(c)(3). The facility is located in the downtown area of Santa Barbara with access to local eateries, retail businesses, parks, and museums. The facility hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The program is designed to teach life skills and provide enrichment activities such as a program that includes sensory therapeutic classes such as listening to calm music, massages, aroma therapy, and feeling different textures. The program also includes painting, water coloring, drawing, crafts, jewelry making; physical activities include basketball, bowling, yoga, dancing, stretching, volleyball; music activities; cooking classes, technology skills training, speech and writing classes, and recognizing local cultural celebratory events. Participants attend community outings including visits to museums, local parks, shopping excursions, and scenic tours. The program serves participants with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities (DD/ID). The program is structured towards each participant’s Individualized Support Plan (ISP).
LPA toured the physical plant areas inside and outside to ensure there are no health and safety hazards and to ensure facility is in compliance with Title 22 Regulations.
Fire inspection was most recently conducted on 2/22/2023.
The facility consists of four classrooms, two computer work areas, a changing room, a kitchen, four bathrooms, and a medication room. There are cubbies available to the participants for their personal belongings.
