On February 13, 2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required - 3 Year inspection at the above-mentioned Family Child Care Home. LPA met with licensee Kay McGee and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 6 children, 1 assistant and 1 volunteer were present.

LPA in the company of the licensee toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. LPA notes the FCCH uses 2 dedicated day care rooms and 1 bathroom for child care purposes. LPA observed the remainder of the home is made inaccessible to children with a child proof gate. LPA observed required postings in one of the day care rooms in a visible area. LPA observed both day care rooms to be have sufficient space and ventilation for children in care. LPA observed the children's areas to have plenty of children's equipment and to be free of hazards . LPA observed napping children with adequate napping equipment. LPA observed cleaning products to be located on an elevated surface beyond the reach of children in care. LPA observed the bathroom used for children to be clean and free of hazards.

LPA observed the outdoor area to be completely enclosed. LPA observed the yard to have play structures in good condition. LPA observed the footing of the play structure to be made up of mulch. LPA observed a storage shed that is locked. LPA observed the backyard to be clean and free of hazards. No bodies of water were observed.

The FCCH has a smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. LPA notes the detectors are integrated to the home and testing the alarm would call the fire department. Licensee explained the fire department checks on the alarms regularly. LPA observed the FCCH to have a regulation fire extinguisher which was serviced on 2/11/2025. LPA reminded licensee the responsibility to purchase or service a regulation fire extinguisher annually.

LPA reviewed a sampling of children's files which were found current and complete. LPA reminded licensee they must ensure children's forms are completely filled out. LPA observed assistants file which was found to be complete. Licensee and assistant completed Mandated Reporter Training on 10/7/22. 1 Type B deficiency is being issued as a result. Licensee completed Pediatric CPR/First Aid on 2/25/23 (expires on 2/23/25). LPA reminded licensee it is their responsibility to ensure all certificates are current. LPA notes the volunteer has a criminal record clearance.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

During the exit interview, the Licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.

1 Type B deficiency was issued during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
