25 | On January 7, 2025, at 8:36 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elizabeth George conducted an unannounced required 3- year Inspection at the above mentioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Licensee Bertha Morales and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the facility. At the time of the inspection four children were present along with licensee’s assistant (licensees daughter whom is cleared and associated).
Licensee stated that children have access to the living room, dining room, family room, bathroom, kitchen, and one bedroom while the remainder of the home is inaccessible to children in care. The home was orderly and clean with proper ventilation for all children in care. The bathroom used for care is clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that sharps, knives, and medications are stored in the kitchen on a high cabinet that is inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed that cleaning compounds are stored under kitchen sink in a child locked cabinet as well as in the laundry room which is inaccessible to children. Toys, furniture and equipment in the facility are age appropriate.
LPA observed required licensing forms and documents posted in the day care room (front bedroom). LPA observed a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector located in the hallway. Both the smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and found to be operational at 9:03 AM. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher, Licensee was unable to provide proof of purchase or service date. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the home’s fire/disaster drill log. The most recent fire drill conducted and documented was on 7/31/24.
LPA observed that the backyard is completely fenced. Toys and play equipment observed in backyard are age appropriate and in good conditions. LPA observed one shed in the outdoor play area that is locked and inaccessible to the children in care. LPA observed no bodies of water on site. Licensee informed LPA no firearms or ammunition are in the home.
