LPA met with Erica Ramirez, Licensee. The purpose of the visit was discussed with the Licensee and together we toured the inside and outside of the home. LPA observed 5 children in care at the time of the inspection with one assistant (S1). LPA notes one of the children in care was an infant sleeping in a separate room.
The home is a 5-bedroom 3-bathroom home. The main day care areas are on the first floor, the front living room, (2) two bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, family room, and hallway bathroom. LPA observed the off-limits areas which include the upstairs 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms are made inaccessible to children in care by way of a secure gate at the bottom of the stairs.
· LPA observed the day care area to be clean and orderly.
· Licensee stated there is a firearm in the home. The firearm is kept in a lock box but was unavailable to view at the time of inspection due to spouse works for law enforcement and carries on his person while at work.
· LPA observed age-appropriate books, toy, games, tables, and chairs. LPA reminded licensee to replace toys and furniture as needed when the quality of play structures are harmful to children in care.
· The fire extinguisher was observed with a purchase date 6/19/2024. LPA reminded licensee to replace or service fire extinguisher every year.
· Knives and sharps are stored in an elevated cabinet in the kitchen inaccessible.
· Family medications are stored in an elevated cabinet in the kitchen inaccessible.
· There is a functioning combo carbon monoxide/smoke detector tested at 11:23AM in the home, that meets statutory requirements, and are functioning at the time of inspection.
· The bathroom was clean with no toxins posing any immediate danger to children in care. There were some hygiene products in an elevated cabinet but were at the time inaccessible to children in care. LPA advised licensee to secure cabinets if in a rare occurrence a child should climb and attempt to open cabinet.
