25 | On 1/3/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Francisca Velazquez conducted an unannounced One Year Required Inspection of the Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Nora Rodriguez Rico, Assistant of the facility and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA notes COVID Pre-screening questions were asked prior to the inspection. Assistant’s responses suggest the FCCH is void of COVID positive cases. At the time of inspection, LPA observed three (3) children on site being cared by Assistant. Per Assistant, Licensee is out of town and unavailable for today’s inspection. Licensee was telephoned and informed of inspection.
LPA, in the company of Assistant toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. This is a two (2) story home with four (4) bedrooms and three (3) bathrooms, two (2) living rooms, kitchen, dining area, laundry room, garage and outdoor yard. LPA observed that daycare services occur in one (1) living room and hallway, one (1) bathroom, and part of the outdoor yard. Meanwhile, one (1) master living room, garage, entire second floor and part of the outdoor yard are inaccessible to children in care. LPA explain to Assistant that Licensee must be present for 80% of the work day. Assistant reported that Licensee will return on 1/4/23 in the evening. The facility will not offer services tomorrow and will resume services on 1/5/23.
The FCCH was observed to be clean and orderly. The FCCH has ventilation to afford for the children’s comfort. The FCCH was void of hazardous items. LPA observed sharps and medication for the family are stored in elevated cabinets in the kitchen that are inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed cleaning compounds are located in the laundry room in an elevated cabinet that are inaccessible to children in care. The bathroom used for childcare is clean and free of toxins. LPA notes children pass through laundry room to have access to bathroom. Assistant reports children are always supervised. Toys, furniture, and equipment in the FCCH are age appropriate.
Required forms are predominantly posted on the entrance of the FCCH. LPA observed a smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the FCCH. The detectors was tested at and found to be operable at 3:00 PM. |
