On June 10, 2024 at 9:15 AM, Licensing Program Analysts, (LPAs) Gigi Reyes and Elizabeth George conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for a change of capacity. During the inspection, the Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) met with Licensee/applicant, Gricelda Vargas. Family Child Care Home (FCCH) hours of operation is Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00PM, and offers services to children 0-12 years of age

LPAs and applicant toured the home. LPA observed that both the interior and exterior specifically the day care area were free of hazardous materials and/or toxins at the time of the inspection. Accessible areas in the FCCH are living room, kitchen, dining, one bathroom and the fenced backyard. LPAs reviewed applicant's file, Pediatric/Adult First Aid/CPR expires on 1/23/2026. AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training expired on April 22,2024. Fire Extinguisher was purchased on 7/10/2023. Applicant stated that guns or ammunition in the home are stored separately and are inaccessible to children in care. No bodies of water was observed.


Licensee/Applicant submitted an application for a change of capacity on May 16, 2024. The proposed change is to increase the Family Child Care Home's (FCCH) capacity from 8 to 14. Fire clearance was granted on 6/3/2024.

Applicant/Licensee is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS). IMS policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided:

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with applicant, and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at:

LPA also informed applicant of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/, and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

No prohibited equipment will be allowed or used in the home. No baby bouncers, No infant walkers, No Johnny jumpers, No saucer chairs, No trampolines and any other item that falls into that category are not to be permitted in the facility. LPAs observed the trampoline in the backyard. Applicant stated that it will be locked and will not be used. Applicant was advised to notify the department if she decide to use the trampoline, to have her sign the trampoline condition.

Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

On this date, 6/10/2024, the California Attorney General - Megan’s Law website was searched for information on sex offenders required to register with local law enforcement under California's Megan's Law. No registered sex offenders were found at the facility addresses. Under state law, some registered sex offenders are not subject to public; therefore, they may not have been included in this search. However, the Department conducts a monthly cross reference of each address on record for all registered sex offenders against all CCLD facility addresses pursuant to information shared by California DOJ.

Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

During today's inspection, Technical Violation was issued. Plan of corrections must be submitted no later than 6/23/2024.

A notice of site visit was given to applicant, and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
