25 | On June 11, 2024 Licensing Program Analysts (LPA's) Susana Martinez and Julia Meli conducted an unannounced case management licensee initiated inspection for the purpose of increasing the capacity. LPAs met with Licensee, Mary Gonzalez, and advised her of the purpose for the inspection. At the time of inspection, there were five children in the care of two fingerprint cleared adults. Together with Licensee, LPA's toured the home inside and outside. Licensee plans to operate Mon-Fri 5 AM- 5PM and cares for children 0- 10 year old.
The facility is a one story home with three bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, garage, and enclosed backyard. The primary rooms used for day-care are the living room, dining room, one bathroom, and the fully fenced backyard. All other rooms are off-limits, LPAs observed child-proof door knobs on each room. The kitchen was observed to have a baby gate at the entrance. No bodies of water were observed on site. LPAs verified that the guns and ammunition are locked in separate safes.
A fire clearance was granted by the Santa Barbara City Fire Department on 5/30/2024. Licensee tested the dual carbon/smoke detector in the living room at 9:43 am, the detector was found to be in working condition. The regulatory fire extinguisher is located in the kitchen, LPAs reminded Licensee to service or purchase the fire extinguisher yearly. Fire extinguisher was purchased 6/11/24.
The home meets Title 22 Regulations for a Large Family Child Care Home (FCCH). Large License is effective today 6/11/2024.
LPAs advised Licensee that once licensed for a Large FCCH, the capacity limitations shall be maintained at all times. When there is no Qualified Assistant, the capacity must revert back to the requirements of a Small FCCH. Licensee must notify the parents when caring for more than 12 children using the form LIC9150.
LPAs provided a pictorial handout of the capacity requirements for a large FCCH.
No deficiencies were issued during today's inspection. Notice of site visit was given.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Licensee, Mary Gonzalez. |
