25 | On 11/9/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Francisca Velazquez conducted an announced Pre-licensing Inspection and met with Applicant, Maria Herrera. LPA informed Applicant of the nature and purpose of the inspection. The applicant informed LPA of the intention to maintain operating hours of a Family Child Care Home (FCCH) from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday- Saturday. The applicant also informed LPA of the intention to provide care for children 0 months to 13 years of age. The applicant reported she is the only individual that lives in the home and the applicant is fingerprint cleared.
LPA toured the interior and exterior of the residence with the Applicant. This is a single-story home that consists of three (3) bedrooms, two (2) bathrooms, living room 1, living room 2, dining area, kitchen, sunroom, garage, and outdoor yard. The applicant reported day care services will occur in living room 1, dining area, kitchen, sunroom, master bedroom with one (1) bathroom, and part of the outdoor yard will be accessible to children in care. Meanwhile two (2) bedrooms, one (1) bathroom, garage, living room 2 and part of the outdoor yard will be inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed two (2) secured gates, making two (2) bedrooms, one (1) bathroom and living room 2 inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed the garage door to be secured with a door safety knob. LPA observed the sides of the outdoor yard are made inaccessible by fencing.
LPA observed living room 1, dining area, kitchen, one (1) master bedroom with bathroom, sunroom and part of the outdoor yard have plenty of spacing and ventilation for the comfort of children in care. LPA observed a fire place in living room 1 that is secured and inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed sharps are stored in an elevated cabinet in the kitchen. Medication for the family is stored in a separated elevated cabinet in the kitchen and in the applicant’s bedroom and bathroom. Cleaning compounds were observed to be stored in an elevated cabinet in the kitchen and the garage. LPA notes all these areas are inaccessible to children in care. The bathroom of the FCCH is observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed items, equipment, toys and furnishings for the children in care that are in good condition and age appropriate.
