25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Cortney Nelson and Farida Raja, met with the Site Director, Maggie Corral, and explained purpose of visit. Upon arrival, LPAs were admitted into the facility by Maggie and advised that she is the only administrative staff on site today. LPAs observed that the Assistant Director and Program Administrator were not present.
During today's inspection, LPAs observed that children's napping materials in classroom #3 not being individually stored, as napping blankets were observed to be stored on top of the nap cots, touching each other. There were approximately five (5) children's napping materials stored on top of the nap cots, rather than in individual cubbies. LPAs advised that children's napping materials shall be stored so that no child's bedding comes in contact with other children's bedding. This was previously cited during visit on 3/14/2024 and is a repeat violation.
LPAs reviewed the definition of "care and supervision" with the Site Director and advised that the following needs shall be met for the children in care: assistance in diapering, dressing, grooming, bathing and other personal hygiene; maintenance of rules; supervision of children's schedules and activities; monitoring food intake or special diets. During today's observation, LPAs observed one child was wet from spilled milk and was not changed and another was wet from a soiled diaper prior to nap time. Children were observed to be climbing on tables, engaging in conflicts with other children without adult assistance, drawing on tables with crayons/markers, and dumping teacher supplies out onto the floor. The posted schedule inside/outside the classroom is not currently being followed as LPAs did not observe any small group activities with the children. Additionally, children were observed to be spilling milk on the floor and one child was not offered milk as the supply had run out for the classroom. Staff were not seated at tables with the children as they were eating, however they were walking around the tables during that time. |
