25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Cortney Nelson and Farida Raja, met with Assistant Director, Reyna Reyes, and explained purpose of visit. Upon arrival, LPAs were admitted into the facility by Reyna and toured inside and outside during today's inspection.
During observation of DPS classroom, LPAs observed that classroom #3 and #5 are in one room due to picture day. When transitioning to outside play, LPAs observed S1 and S2 bring 16 preschool-age children. They remained outside with 16 preschool-age children for at least 30 minutes before observation ended. A teacher and assistant (with no ECE units) shall visually observe no more than 15 preschool-age children. LPAs additionally advised that a fully qualified teacher shall have 12 semester units of ECE including the core courses of child development, curriculum, and child, family, community.
LPA informed licensee (Reyna Reyes) that this report dated (5/9/2024) documents one Type A citation, which shall be posted for 30 consecutive days as there is immediate risk to the health, safety, or personal rights of children in care.
Also, LPA informed the licensee to provide a copy of this licensing report dated (5/9/2024) that documents any Type A citation to parents/guardians of all children currently enrolled by the next business day or the next day the children are in care, and to any newly enrolled parents/guardians for 12 months from the date of this report. A signed Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Report (LIC 9224), or other written statement, must be placed in the child's file for verification.
