Licensing Program Analysts(LPA's) Anna Morales and Mel Matos met with Marcella Tarin, director, for an unannounced case management inspection. The purpose of conducting an unannounced case inspection is in response to an increase of capacity from 56 to 68 infants. The Facility currently has a preschool license (#434400342) on the same premises in Rooms 3, 4, 5, & 6.
Fire Clearance was granted by Santa Clara Fire Department on 1/24/2024.
The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The Infant classrooms currently licensed are Infant Room 1, Toddler Room 1, and Room 7 (Toddler Room 2). Facility has requested to covert Room 3 which is currently licensed as a preschool classroom (#434400342) to an infant room.

LPAs toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the Facility with Marcella Tarin, director, during today's inspection. Measurements were taken by LPA's Anna Morales and Mel Matos of the following rooms:

Indoor measurements:
Room 1: (27.83 x 10.67 =296.94) + (5.50 x 3.92=21.56) + (18.42 x 17.58=323.82) = 642.32 minus encumbered: (4.83 x 1.83) x 2 = 17.67) = 624.65
Room 3: (35.17 x 27.42 =964.36) - encumbered (6.17 x 1.92) x 2= 23.69) = 940.67

The following measurements were taken on 4/11/2019 by LPA Mathur and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Sandy Knight.

Room 2: Total Area [739.948 square feet] - Encumbered [45.708 square feet] = 694.240 sq ft
Room 7: Total Area [1,175.623 square feet] - Encumbered [32.599 square feet] = 1,108.279 sq ft

TOTAL INFANT INDOOR SPACE: 3,385.50 sq. ft. divided by 35 = 96 infants

OUTDOOR MEASUREMENTS were taken on 4/17/2019 by LPA Mathur and LPM Knight

There are 5 toilets (75) and 4 sinks (60) available. There is hot water available for staff sinks. Staff have separate staff bathrooms on site that can be utilized by sick children if necessary. Sick children will be isolated in the director's office area of the Facility and isolation equipment is available.

There is adequate equipment, supplies and toys for the children based on the capacity requested. Marcella understands that walkers, and items of similar nature are not permitted. LPAs observed appropriate changing tables that have raised sides (3 inches in height) and are within an arm's reach of a sink in Rooms 1 and in Room 3.

Marcella understands that all children must be under direct visual supervision at all times, including nap times. Marcella understands that the Facility must maintain napping logs for any infantr children under 24 months of age. Drinking water will be provided indoors/outdoors via water jugs/sippie cups/reusable water bottles/cups of water. There is a working telephone at the Facility. The phone number is 408-246-2141.

LPAs observed that the infant playground(s) area is separate from the Preschool and surrounded by appropriate fencing. Shade is provided by a canopy, building overhang. LPAs did not observe any bodies of water during today's inspection. Transportation will not be provided by the Facility.

Licensure approval p ending on final review from Manager. Room 3 has adequate equipment and supplies for infant children.

A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS ISSUED, POSTED NEAR THE ENTRANCE OF THE FACILITY AND MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.
