25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mel Matos met with Norma Moreno Vega, Licensee, for an unannounced Required – 3 year inspection. LPA was granted access to the home by the Licensee. LPA also observed eight day care children (3 infant & 5 preschool) and one adult assistant (Cristina Rojas Oseguera) in the home during today's inspection. Licensee was operating within the capacity and ratio requirements of her license. LPA observed the required postings, including the facility license, near the main entrance to the home. Days and hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Licensee, Licensee's spouse (Alvaro Moreno), and one of Licensee's adult son's (Diego Moreno) are the adults residing in the home. Licensee has one minor son, age 17 years, residing in the home.
LPAs reviewed a current Child Care Facility Roster and Fire/Disaster drill log during today's inspection. The last fire/disaster drill was completed on January 3, 2024. Licensee states that she does not have liability insurance for the day care and issues the Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance for Family Child Care Home (LIC 282). Licensee has current CPR and First Aid certifications (expiration: 09/03/2024). Licensee has the required vaccines (MMR, Tdap, & flu) and is current with her Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Workers. LPA reviewed six children's files and the files were complete with the required forms. LPA reviewed two staff files (Licensee & adult assistant) and the files were complete with the required forms and immunization records.
LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home during today's inspection. Licensee has a working telephone in the home (408-835-6694). The home is clean, orderly, (including proper heating/cooling/ventilation), and safe for the day care children. There are safe & age appropriate toys, play equipment, and materials for the children in the home. LPA did not observe any wall heaters, fireplace units, or stairs inside the home. Off limit areas in the home: master bedroom, master bathroom, one bedroom, and attached garage There are no stairs inside the home. Off limit areas outside the home: ADU unit, right side yard section of the backyard, and barricaded air conditioner unit, and fitness gym area.
The Licensee has a 450 sq foot detached ADU unit which has an art studio/music room and half bathroom. The detached living space is permitted with the city of Sunnyvale. The Licensee states that the ADU is not part of the day care and is solely for personal use.
LPA observed a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, no bodies of water, and fenced backyard. Licensee states that she does not have any weapons or pets in the home. All detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other similar items are inaccessible to children. Any poisons are stored in the off limits attached garage. |
