25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPA), Pete Hernandez conducted an unannounced Required 1 Year inspection at the home today with Edith Martinez. Also, present was one Assistant and 9 children. Days and hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 07:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
There are 3 adults residing in the home: Licensee, and Licensee’s Husband Martinez Miguel and her mother Josefina Tinoco . Present during the inspection today was the Silvia Sandoval (Assistant Provider) and 2 infants and 7 preschool children in care.
LPA toured the home both indoor and outdoor areas. Off limit areas in the home: All bedrooms (4 total) , and garage. The rest of the home and backyard are on limit areas. LPA observed: 2 fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers, functioning combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector and fire pull stations. Licensee states that there are no weapons in the home. LPA advised the Licensee that poisons need to be locked. Cleaning products, medications, sharp objects and other similar items are to be stored inaccessible to children. LPA informed Licensee that smoking, baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers and similar items are not allowed in family child care homes. There were no visible bodies of water on the property.
The Licensee will talk to the children and will use redirection as forms of discipline.
The Licensee understands that children's personal rights should not be violated; including no corporal punishment. Isolation of sick children, supervision of children, capacity options, transportation of children, requirements for reporting suspected child abuse, unusual incidents/injuries, and requirements for assistant/substitute were discussed. LPA informed Licensee that fire/disaster drills must be practiced at least once every 6 months and documented and last entry was 5/22/2023.
