25 | #2 Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Marilou Monico and Dung Mac, made an unannounced Required - 1 Year inspection. Present in the home were Licensee, her husband, her adult daughter, her adult helper, and six daycare children including four infants and two preschool age. LPAs explained with licensee the purpose of today's visit. There are four adults residing in the home: licensee, her husband, and her two adult children. The daycare is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The daycare is a 4-bedroom, 3-bath house.
LPAs toured the home inside and out. Off limit areas in the home: kitchen, master bedroom, two bathrooms, two bedrooms (Room 1 & 2), laundry room, living room, dining room, furnace closet (W.H), and garage. Off limit areas outside the home: gated area of the backyard, storage shed, and both side yards. LPAs observed sufficient toys and play equipment for the day care children. Bathroom used by children was observed to be clean and in good condition. There were no bodies of water observed. Per licensee, there are no weapons in the home. LPAs observed a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detector, and fenced backyard. Cleaning compounds, sharp objects, and other similar items were stored inaccessible to children.
LPAs discussed with Licensee Assembly Bill (AB) 1207 (Mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training for Child Care Providers) which is required training that began on January 1, 2018 and requires renewal every two years. Mandated Reported Training can be accessed at www.mandatedreporterca.com. Licensee's Mandated Reporter Training is current with expiration date of October 21, 2023. Per record review, Licensee's helper (Helper #1) has been working in the home for more than 90 days, however, she failed to complete the Mandated Reporter Training. Licensee and her helper have current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certifications with an expiration date of October 18, 2023. AB 633 was also discussed with Licensee.
LPAs reviewed seven children's files and a helper's file. Copy of children's roster was obtained. Licensee stated that she practiced fire/disaster drill with the children about three weeks ago but did not document the drill.
