Purpose of today's case management inspection: The Facility is requesting to add a Toddler Option (16 children) to the existing license and converting the Early Preschool 1 classroom for the Toddler Option component. The capacity remains unchanged at 165 children. Hours of operation: 6:30 AM to 6:30 AM. LPA toured and measured the indoor and outdoor areas of the Facility with Geranny during today's inspection. The Facility is currently licensed in the following rooms: Early Preschool 1, 2, & 3, Preschool 1 & 2, Pre-K 1 & 2, and After School 1 rooms. Measurements are as follows: INDOOR MEASUREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS: Early Preschool 1 (Toddler option): 33.167 x 17.417= 577.670 Early Preschool 2: (3.917 x 7.500) + (34.333 x 25.167) = 29.378 + 864.059 = 893.437 Early Preschool 3: 29.417 x 17.833 = 524.593 Preschool 1: (4 x 7.500) + (33.500 x 25.833) = 30 + 865.401 = 895.401 Preschool 2: 32.167 x 27.167 = 873.881 Pre-K 1: 35.583 x 23.750 = 845.097 Pre-K 2: 32 x 27.167 = 869.344 After School 1: (5.833 x 5.583) + (24.500 x 29.167) + (17.833 x 2.583) = 32.566 + 714.592 + 46.063 = 793.221 *TOTAL INDOOR SPACE: 6,272.397 sq. ft. divided by 35 = 179 children* Geranny Natividad, director, was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

There are 16 toilets (210) and 18 sinks (360) available for the preschool children. There is a separate bathroom in the Early Preschool 1 room for the toddler option children. Potty training will be provided by the Facility. There is no hot water available in the children's sinks. Staff have three separate staff bathrooms within the Facility that can be utilized by sick children if necessary. Sick children will be isolated in the director's office and isolation equipment will be provided.

Geranny understands that walkers and items of similar nature are not permitted. LPA observed appropriate changing tables that have raised sides (3 inches in height) and are within an arm's reach of a sink in the Early Preschool 1 room. Geranny understands that the children must be under direct visual supervision at all times, including nap times.

OUTDOOR MEASUREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Yard A = (14 x 11) + (56.333 x 28) = 154 + 1,577.324 = 1,731.324
Yard B = (75 x 27.333) + (133 x 21.583) = 2, 049.975 + 2,870.539 = 4,920.514
Yard C = (41 x 23.750) + (32 x 45.667) = 973.75 + 1,461.344 = 2,435.094
Yard D = 56.333 x 29.667 = 1,671.231

TOTAL OUTDOOR SPACE: 10,758.163 sq. ft. divided by 75 = 143 children.

LPA observed that the playgrounds are surrounded by appropriate fencing. Early Preschool 2 & 3, Preschool 1-2, Pre-K 1 & 2, and After School 1 rooms will use the playgrounds at different intervals and usage schedules are posted throughout the Facility. The Early Preschool 1 Room will utilize Yard B. The playground equipment is age appropriate and artificial grass/rubbing padding is used as resilient materials. Shade is provided by canopies and building overhangs throughout the playground areas. There are adequate equipment, supplies, and toys for children outdoors. LPA did not observe any bodies of water during today's inspection.

LPA received a fire clearance approval from the San Jose Fire Department prior to today's inspection.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Geranny Natividad, director, and advised her that the preschool license with the toddler option (149 infants & 16 toddler option children) is approved as of today, March 2, 2023. No deficiencies issued during today's inspection.

Notice of site visit issued and must remain posted for 30 days.
