Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Sheena Chin and Oscar Huang conducted an unannounced Case Management- Licensee Initiated inspection. LPAs met with the director, Monica Thompson. The purpose of this inspection is to inspect and evaluate the extended playground #2 and evaluate the application of capacity increase from 100 to 130. An updated application and facility sketch were received on 11/13/2023. The facility is requesting to increase the capacity from 100 to 130 and to share infant playground (#3) with preschool/toddler option. The fire clearance was granted by San Jose Fire Department on 12/7/2023 and received by the office on 12/15/2023. LPAs inspected the extended playground. The playground area is fenced. Shade is provided by a canopy in the playground area. No play structure was observed, and the floor is made of concrete. There were no bodies of water observed. LPAs toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the Facility during today's inspection. Indoor activity space and outdoor playground measurements were using data taken on 4/13/2022 and 4/19/2022 by LPAs Stephanie Collins, Mac Dung and Susy Cervantes. continue page 2.

Updated outdoor playground area
(Playground #1: 2,454.5) + (existing playground #2: 1,045.57) + (extended playground #2: 1295.55) + (playground #3: 1,254.47) = 6050.09 square feet.

Per regulation of outdoor activity space, 101238.2 (a) ”There shall be at least 75 square feet per child of outdoor
activity space based on the total licensed capacity.”, 6050.09 ÷ 75 = 80.66

There are 12 sinks for 180 children and 11 toilets for 165 children.

No deficiencies were cited. LPAs advised the director, Monica Thompson that a license for 130 preschool children with a waiver to share the outdoor playgrounds among preschool, toddler and infant programs at different time slots, will be approved upon management review and approval.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Monica Thompson. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
