Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Anna Morales and Oscar Huang, conducted an announced pre licensing inspection at the facility today. Purpose of today's inspection: address new application request for a preschool license submitted by the Applicant. Representatives. LPAs met with Director Jessica Tejada and Laurie Breton, Student Services, and explained the nature of today's inspection to them. LPAs note that the Facility is located in the back of the campus of Mt .Pleasant Elementary School. LPA's were informed that Stephanie Arroyo will be the Site Director for this location.

The Applicant Representative is applying for a license to serve 16 preschool children ages 3 to 4 years of age. The Facility will operate Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM. LPAs toured and measured the indoor and outdoor areas of the Facility during today's inspection.
Indoor Activity Space:

Classroom H = 27.583(L) x 23.167(w)=639.0+16.08=655.08-48.65=606.43 (Encumbered Space= 22.42 x 2.2= 48.65)

TOTAL INDOOR SPACE = 606.43 sq. ft. divided by 35 = 17 children

Facility has 2 sinks and 1 toilet in classroom H available for the preschool children. There is one toilet and one sink in Classroom F available. LPAs reminded Director(s) that the children's bathroom door will need to remain open to allow for children to be adequately supervised while in the bathroom. LPA' reminded Director(s) that if the children are to use the bathroom F, they are to be accompanied by staff at all times. The sinks used by the preschool children have cold running water. Staff have one separate bathroom within the Facility. The staff bathroom will be utilized by sick children if needed. Sick children will be isolated in the office area of the Facility and isolation equipment will be provided.

The Classroom has appropriate lighting, central heating/air conditioning, and ventilation. There is no wall heaters or fireplace units in the Facility. First aid supplies are stored in the Facility inaccessible to children. Cleaning supplies are stored throughout the Facility and inaccessible to children. Director(s) stated that there no poisons at the Facility. LPAs observed solid waste containers with tight-fitting lids in the Facility. The Facility has functioning smoke,carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguisher.

There are 3 tables, 20 chairs and 22 cubbies. Children at this site will not be taking naps. There is adequate equipment, supplies, and toys for children in the Classroom. Drinking water will be readily available for the children indoors via reusable water bottles. Transportation will not be provided by the Facility.

The center will provide breakfast for the AM session, and snacks for the AM/ PM sessions, which will be provided by the Mt. Pleasant School District. The Facility will use disposable plates, utensils, and cups for the children. Director(s) understands that any food brought from home shall be labeled with each child's name and properly stored.

Outdoor Space (Playground):

126(L) x 135 (w)=17,010 sq ft.

TOTAL OUTDOOR SPACE = 17,010 sq. ft. divided by 75 = 226.8 children

The preschool playground to be used by the children is surrounded by appropriate fencing. The outdoor surfaces are safe for the children. There is adequate equipment, supplies, and toys for children in the preschool playground. Drinking water will be readily available for the children outdoors via reusable water bottles which the Facility will refill as needed. LPAs observed no bodies of water in the playground area of the Facility

Fingerprint clearances for individuals at this facility who require caregiver background checks are issued by the State Department of Education and/or County Office of Education and do not come under the jurisdiction of Community Care Licensing division.

A fire clearance was approved on 3/31/2023 approval for 16 children was received from the San Jose Fire Dept. prior to today's inspection.

LPA's obtained supporting some of the documentation for the Site Director on site. Jessica Tejada stated that she will send the remaining documentation to LPA Morales

Licensure pending on final approval.
