On August 2, 2025, the Department received a complaint alleging that on July 31, 2025, at approximately 11:40 a.m., a child was left unsupervised in the infant nap room during a facility tour.
Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Darnella Barnes conducted an unannounced investigation on August 5, 2025. LPA informed Owner Aakriti Beri of the visit’s purpose and was granted access. Present during the visit were Owners Aakriti Beri and Rahul Beri, Site Supervisor Smitaben Mistry, Teacher Assistants Ana Perez Valdez, and Maria Gamboa, along with seven infants.
The investigation included a facility tour, interviews with staff, review of relevant records, observations, and examination of video footage from July 31, 2025, covering the time period 11:43:18 a.m. to 11:54 a.m.
Both infant room teachers, Ana Perez Valdez and Maria Gamboa, stated that no infant was left unattended. Video footage showed Teacher Maria Gamboa present in the infant nap room. At approximately 11:43 a.m., when Teacher Gamboa moved to the infant play room, Owner Aakriti Beri was positioned at the door supervising the infant nap room.
