25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kate Huang met with Licensee Qingmin Wang for an unannounced annual inspection. Upon arrival, the licensee was not present; two assistants were supervising 11 children, including four infants. The licensee arrived approximately one and a half hours later. LPA explained the purpose of today’s inspection to the licensee. The facility operates Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Adults residing in the home include the licensee and one assistant (S1).
LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home with two assistants during today’s inspection. LPA observed that 3 infants were sleeping in the cribs in one bedroom and all other children were sleeping in the living room. LPA observed that the crib sheet used for one infant (C1) was not appropriately sized for the mattress, did not fit tightly, and was dislodged. Required posting materials were observed outside the entrance of the home. LPA noted that there were sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment available for the daycare children. The home was clean and orderly.
The home has central heating, cooling, and proper ventilation to ensure the comfort of the children. Indoor furniture and equipment were observed to be age-appropriate, in good condition, and free of sharp edges, loose parts, or pointed objects. No disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons, or other hazardous items were observed to be accessible to children.
The bathroom used by the children was in proper working condition, with clean and operable toilets and faucets. The facility’s outdoor area is enclosed with appropriate fencing. LPA observed that the outdoor play equipment is age-appropriate and in good condition.
LPA observed that licensee has current CPR/First Aid certification. Additionally, LPA noted a current roster of children and a fire and disaster drill log, which is required to be completed at least once every six months. The most recent fire drill was conducted today during LPA's inspection.
LPA reviewed the files of six children present, as well as the files of the licensee and staff. One assistant (S1) does not have immunization records of measles. Infants have individual sleep plans. LPA checked the 15-minute sleep logs. The facility has valid liability insurance.
