**THIS VISIT WAS CONDUCTED VIA FACETIME DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.**

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melanie Otsuji conducted an announced Prelicensing inspection today, October 20, 2020. LPA met with Area Manager, Richard Fuentes, via FACETIME. An application was submitted for a new school age license at this location. This school-age program will be operating in the Multi-Purpose Room. The facility is a school age care program located on a school ground (El Carmelo Elementary School of Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) which exempts the program fencing, outdoor activity space, toilet, and isolation space requirement. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00PM. A health and safety virtual inspection was conducted inside and outside of all areas to be utilized by this program. The grounds, indoors and outdoors are maintained by PAUSD. The facility has working carbon monoxide detectors as well as centralized smoke/fire alarm.

Fire inspection clearance approved by the Palo Alto Fire Department on 10/08/2020 for a capacity of 120.

There are no hazardous items/toxins observed to be accessible to children in care. There are working water fountains outdoors and pitchers with cups will be used indoors for children's drinking water in the multipurpose room. Classrooms are equipped with age appropriate materials and equipment. The center has first aid supplies available. Sign in, sign out records are present. The facility will provide snacks with a menu available. Snacks are stored in a locked portable cabinets. Licensing postings are available.

Richard Fuentes is a fully qualified school age director with current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification. This facility plans to provide Individual Medical Services – IMS. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Items reviewed with Area Manager included staff back ground clearances, mandatory reporter training for staff (needs to be renewed every 2 years), no commingling of program children with non-program children, reporting of unusual incidents to CCL and supervision of children in care.

The center is found to be clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. An exit interview was conducted with Area Manager, Richard Fuentes.

A license for 120 school-age children is recommended effective today, October 20, 2020.
