Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Cortney Nelson and Jennifer 'Jen' Beehler, met with Teacher-Director, Dianna Leon, to follow-up on self-reported incident. Upon arrival, LPAs were admitted into the facility by Dianna and conducted interviews with staff present. Education Manager, Lorena Gonzalez, and Site Supervisor, Cecilia Esquival, arrived approximately 20 minutes after LPAs arrived. LPAs observed that there were no children present as it was the last day of service for the facility and staff present were cleaning the facility.

On 5/9/2024 the facility self-reported that a staff member (S1) witnessed another staff member (S2) use inappropriate discipline of a child. It was alleged that S2 placed her hands on the child's nose, moving the child's head side to side, so the child can feel how the other child felt. The child was observed to hit another child in the face while playing outside by S1.

Lorena states that follow-up has been completed by the facility regarding the alleged observations and S2 was removed for administrative leave. Further training is planned for staff at the start of the new school year and Lorena states they will cover the topics of behavior management, redirection, and working on how to approach children with challenging behaviors.

Interview was unable to be completed with S1 and the facility is still working on completing their own internal investigation, and due to this, further investigation will be completed regarding the incident.

As a result of todays inspection, no deficiencies were cited.

Exit interview conducted and the report was reviewed with Education Manager, Lorena Gonzalez, and Site Supervisor, Cecilia Esquival.

A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS GIVEN AND MUST BE POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.
