Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Cortney Nelson and Jennifer 'Jen" Beehler met with Education Manager, Lorena Gonzalez, and Site Supervisor, Ceilia Esquival, to follow-up on incident that was self-reported to the Department. Upon arrival, LPAs were admitted into the facility by Teacher-Director, Eduardo, and conducted interviews with staff present. Only the toddler classroom was observed to be open today as Eduardo advised that the preschool classroom was only in session for a half day today.

The facility self-reported on 5/15/2024 that a staff member (S1) has been restraining children during circle time and while directing children to clean-up. This has been observed by staff members at the facility (S2 & S3) and an internal investigation is on-going. Interviews conducted with S2 and S3 allege that further concerning behaviors regarding restraining children by S1 have been observed in the classroom.

Cecilia states that S1 is currently on administrative leave until the internal investigation has been completed. LPAs advised that a follow-up visit will be conducted regarding the incident once internal investigation has been completed and attempted interview with S1 can be completed by LPAs.

As a result of todays inspection, no deficiencies were cited.

Exit interview conducted and the report was reviewed with the Education Manager, Lorena Gonzalez, and Site Supervisor, Cecilia Esquival.

A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS GIVEN AND MUST BE POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.
