25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elizabeth Berumen met with Licensee, Lilia Salgado for an unannounced Required – 1 year annual inspection. LPA was granted access to the home by the Licensee. LPA also observed 5 preschool age children, two school age and one infant in care today. Licensee had two assistants today; her adult daughter (Lilia Alfaro) and her husband (Jaime Alfaro). Licensee was operating within her capacity and ratio requirements. LPA observed the required postings, including the facility license, near the front entrance to the home. Days and hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The adults residing in the home are: Licensee, Licensee's spouse (Jaime Alfaro), Licensee's adult daughter (Lilia Salgado), and adult son (Andres Alfaro). There are no minor children residing in the home.
LPA reviewed a current Child Care Facility Roster and obtained a copy for facility file. LPA reviewed the Fire/Disaster drill log during today's inspection; last fire/disaster drill was completed April 27, 2023. Licensee has day care insurance. Licensee has current CPR and First Aid certifications, expiring on 01/22/2024.
Licensee has the required vaccines (MMR, Tdap, & flu) and is current with her Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Workers expiring on 10/25/23. LPA reviewed assistants files (two), both have immunization against pertussis, measles, mandated reporter training, tb test and CPR & First Aid.
LPA inspected the on limit indoor and outdoor areas of the home to ensure safety and compliance. Licensee has a working telephone in the home. The home is clean, orderly, (including central heating/ventilation), and safe for the day care children. There are safe & age appropriate toys, play equipment, and materials for the children in the home. LPA observed a screened fire place and barricaded stairs. Off limit areas inside the home: entire upstairs (4 bedrooms and two bathrooms). Off limit areas outside: right fenced off area and storage shed where the chickens are roosters are kept. The Licensee has a storage shed that is used for day care that is near the children outdoor play area; LPA inspected the shed and it is safe; licensee keeps tricycles and toys for children.
LPA observed a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, working smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, no bodies of water, and fenced backyard. The fire extinguisher was serviced on February 2023. All detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other similar items are inaccessible to children; most items are stored in off limit garage. Medication is stored in high kitchen cabinets inaccessible to children. Licensee was reminded that any poisons are to be locked and inaccessible to the day care children. Licensee states that she does not have any weapons in home. |
