32 | Licensee was reminded of capacity and ratio rules, supervision requirements, reporting obligations, and that children’s rights cannot be waived and understands the procedure for handling sick children.
LPA toured the facility’s indoor areas. Off-limit areas include the 3 bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen and attached garage. The staircase leading to the second floor is gated and blocked at the bottom and top of stairway to prevent children’s access. The home was clean, well ventilated, and had safe toys, play equipment and materials. A fully charged 3A-40-BC fire extinguisher, last serviced 8/12/25, is available, along with working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and an operating telephone. All hazardous items, including poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, and medicines were locked and kept out of children’s reach. The home was free of defects or dangers that could harm a child. The living room contains a fireplace that is screened and blocked by a bookshelf. The Licensee acknowledges that the waiver granted on 4/10/23 is no longer valid. The Licensee stated that the electric fireplace will not be used and will not be hot to touch during daycare hours or when children are present. Licensee was reminded that smoking is prohibited. Licensee confirmed there are no firearms, or ammunition on the property.
The backyard play area is fully enclosed by a three-foot-high fence. The Licensee understands that outdoor areas must be supervised at all times when children are present. The yard contains age-appropriate play items, including tables, a toy kitchen, and various toys. No bodies of water were observed. The Licensee was reminded to notify Licensing prior to making any changes to the home or yard.
The facility roster and six children’s files were reviewed, confirming all required forms were complete. LPA advised the applicant that if liability insurance is not provided or the daycare is not named in the policy, parents must sign the Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance (LIC 282) and file it in each child's record.
Licensee CPR/First Aid expires 3/22/26 with mandatory training expiring 5/20/27.. LPA reminded the licensee of the two-year renewal requirement.
The licensee does not transport children. Licensee was reminded that if they transport children, a valid driver’s , vehicle registration and insurance are required. Children should never be left unattended in a vehicle, and car seats or booster seats must be available and properly used for transportation.
