25 | Enforcement Analysts (EAs), Ramsey Chimienti and Ruben Perez, with the Home Care Services Branch (HCSB) met with Debora Maestas, owner of Life Springs in Home Care, located at 7280 Santa Cruz Hwy. Scotts Valley, CA 95066. EA Chimienti explained to the owner that the purpose of the visit was to confirm closure of her Home Care Organization (HCO). EAs Chimienti and Perez explained to Ms. Maestas that operation of her HCO needs to cease immediately per the License Denial Letter that was previously mailed and also provided during today’s visit. Ms. Maestas acknowledges that she can continue to work independently with clients but cannot arrange for caregiving services from other individuals or represent herself as a Home Care Organization (HCO) at this time. The business owner also understands that she must modify any website(s), online advertisement as well as any other advertising that indicates Life Springs In Home Care as having additional caregivers working for the company. If Ms. Maestas resumes operation as an HCO rather than an independent caregiver, the Department may assess a civil penalty of nine hundred dollars ($900) per day for each calendar day that Ms Maestas’ business is in violation. A copy of the HCS 809 (HCO Inspections Report) and the LIC 9058 Appeal Rights were provided to the business owner at the conclusion of the visit. |
