32 | Licensee stated that she does not raise her voice but speaks with a firm voice.Licensee reported that if a child is sick in care, she will place child in area where there are no other children, while waiting for parent to pick up.
Both Staff reported that children are not slapped and not having seen or heard a child get slapped. Staff also reported that they did not see or heard anyone step on a child’s foot. Parent interviews disclosed that they are aware that licensee uses time out as form of discipline with the children but did not reveal any physical discipline, slapping or stepping into a child’s foot. C4’s statements also corroborate that children are given a time out.
S1 reported that when a child is sick, she will let Licensee know and hands are washed, and disinfectant is used on chairs and mats. S1 added that children are checked with thermometer, “No one has been sick within the last month”. S2 stated that they call the child’s parent to pick up if a child gets sick and separate the children. Parent interviews corroborated that when their child becomes sick while in care, they are called to pick up their child. Three parents corroborated that when they picked up their sick child they were separated from other children.
Staff reported that they do not raise they voice at children or have heard any adult raise their voice. S2 stated, “No there is no shouting”. “No, I have not seen any adult yell at a child”. Parents interviews revealed they have not heard staff yell or raise their voice. P6, stated “I have seen Licensee slightly raise her voice at her own children but what mother doesn't" C4 interview reveled that teacher yells “don’t do that and sends to time out”. Also, that either licensee or a staff “screams loud” and makes C4 feel “sad” but did not specify what was screamed or how many times it happened.
Additional front door entrance camera video footage provided by Licensee did not reveal that allegations were occurring.
Based on interviews conducted and records reviewed, although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violations occurred, therefore the allegations are Unsubstantiated. This report was reviewed and discussed with the licensee, Glory Onumah. She was provided with a copy of this report and Appeal Rights. All licensing reports are public information and must be made available upon request for at least three years.
