While touring in the outdoor play area, at 10:19am, LPA observed a large hole in the siding of a shed that is otherwise inaccessible and is a potential risk to the safety of the children. LPA also observed a large hole or gap between the gate and building, also a potential risk to the safety of the children in care. There is a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher in the facility. Facility conducted disaster drill in 7/2026; however, they could not provide a drill log.
There are wood chips cushioning underneath the climbing structure to absorb falls. The wood chips are aging and requires routine fluffing by staff to maintain fall absorbing effectiveness. There were no bodies of water observed on the site.
During today's inspection, staffing ratios were being met, a total of 7 preschool children were being supervised by the Site Supervisor, two teachers, and one assistant teacher. The facility was operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements.
At 11:47am, four children’s (C1-C4) records were reviewed; C1 and C4 had missing required documents. At 12:06pm, four staff files were reviewed and contained all records as required. All staff present have current CPR and first aid certifications and Mandated Reporter certifications.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. Next lead testing is due 12/2027.
This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. D1 stated that there are not any children currently in need of IMS at the time of inspection. LPA reviewed IMS policies with D1.
