25 | Licensing Program Analyst ( LPA) Elpidia Hernandez Torres arrived to the Infant day-care center to conduct a case management visit and to provide technical assistance. LPA was previously at the center and reviewed infant's admission agreements. Center Director provided addendum to the admissions agreement that is renewed every year. Center Director reported the admissions agreement is part of the handbook that is given upon enrollment. LPA explained to Center Director, while the admissions agreement can be part of the hand book, it should be specific to the child enrolled in the program and renewed as the child ages out of the infant program. LPA advised center director to keep the admission part of the handbook on file for each child enrolled in the infant program.
LPA also reviewed the infant care teacher qualifications, specifically California code of regulations Title 22 division 12 chapter 1, 101416.2 (b) Prior to employment, an infant care teacher shall have completed, with passing grades, at least three post secondary semesters or equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or child development, and three post secondary semester or equivalent quarter units related to the care of infants, at an accredited or approved college or university. And section 101416.2(C)(1)To be a fully qualified infant care teacher, a teacher shall have the following: (1) Completion, with passing grades, of 12 post secondary semester or equivalent quarter units in early childhood or child development education at an accredited or approved college or university. And sections 101416.2(C)(2)At least six months of experience in a licensed infant care center or comparable group child care program for children under five years of age.
There were no Title 22 deficiencies issued during todays visit. Notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Report was reviewed with center director, a copy was provided. |
