25 | An unannounced annual/random inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Cindy Castro. LPA met with Sandra Robles, Licensee (L1). There are currently two adults living in the home. L1 was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Childcare Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
During the inspection the home was toured inside and outside. The licensee (L1) was supervising five children and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. The facility’s operating hours are 7:30AM to 5:30PM, Monday–Friday. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The day care areas will be the living room, hallway bathroom and backyard. The kitchen, family room, office, laundry room, garage and the entire second floor are "off limits" to the day care children and were made inaccessible by secured gates and key locked doors. The home was at a comfortable indoor temperature. There were safe toys and equipment available for children. There were no pools or other bodies of water observed on premises. There is a working telephone in the home. Items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were stored out of the reach of children. Licensee stated that poisons are stored in a locked bedroom on second floor. There is a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher rated at least 2-A, 10: BC that is in working condition. Last emergency drill conducted and documented was on 09/16/24. Licensee stated that there are no firearms or weapons in the home, none were observed during today’s visit. Five child files were reviewed and current. LPA reviewed roster and it was current. Licensee’s mandated reporter training certification expires 01/24/26. Licensee’s CPR/First Aid expires 02/04/25.
