A review of records received, indicates that parents are informed by way of the parent handbook, that no child will be accepted without contact between center staff and the person bringing the child to the center, who must remain until the staff has accepted the child into care. The handbook states that children will be excluded from the center if the child has gastro-intestinal symptoms (i.e. diarrhea) within the last 24 hours, sore throat, discharge from eyes, skin rashes, hair lice/nits, discharge from nose and ears with fever or other symptoms and/or a fever within the last 24 hours.
Based on review of the text messages provided by way of a screen shot, on 05/01/26, D1 notified parents that their child was not feeling well and the parent replied that they were on their way to pick up their child.
On 05/21/26 D1 denied the allegations by stating that she oversees cleaning the facility, which is sanitized at the end of each day and throughout the day. D1 gave examples such as vacuuming after lunch, wiping down the bathrooms, cleaning the kitchen after each use, sanitizing the tables after each meal, sanitizing the toys daily and sending the blankets home once a week to be laundered and returned.
D1 also gave an account of her daily routine for children’s arrival, stating that she greets each child, looking them in the eye and asking them how they are doing, looking them over for signs of illness and checking in with the adult dropping them off. D1 stated that children with symptoms of illness aren’t allowed to enter and gave examples of times that she has had to send children home after drop off because they came down with symptoms while in care, stating that children wait in the Bumblebee area, in her view until their parent arrives.
Interviews with both staff, S1 and S2 corroborated D1 statements, each giving an account of daily cleaning routines, similar to what D1 stated. Both S1 and S2 gave examples of symptoms that would exclude children from care such as, a bad cough, diarrhea, green snot, vomiting or a fever, stating that if they notice any of these symptoms after drop off, they notify D1 who then contacts the child’s parent, asking that the child is picked up. S1 shared that children wait in the front room with a teacher until they are picked up.
