25 | An annual required inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Amy Strother. LPA met with Licensee, Sabrina Meyer (L1). A review of staff records indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
During the inspection the home was toured inside and outside. The licensee was supervising 7 children, Child 1 - Child 7 (C1-C7). Five children in care, C1- C2 and C5-C7 were infants under 2 years old, two children, C3 and C4, are preschool age. The licensee was operating beyond the licensed capacity and ratio requirements, and over ratio by two infants. During the inspection, Licensee called parents of C5 and C7 and they were picked up, bringing the ratio into compliance. The facility’s operating hours are Monday - Friday 7:30am –6:30pm. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The off-limit areas of the home are two bedrooms and the basement, made inaccessible by means of locking latches and/or locked door knobs. The home was clean and orderly, and was at a comfortable indoor temperature. There were safe toys and equipment available for children. There is a working telephone in the home. LPA verified a current mandated reporter training certificate, which expires 06/22/2023. Items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, etc.) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. L1 stated that no poisons are located on the premises and none were observed during today's inspection. The fireplace has been made inaccessible with a wooden cabinet. LPA observed a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A10BC, in the home. The roster of children in care was reviewed and was current.
