A case management inspection was conducted at the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Amy Strother in response to an increase capacity application received by the Department on 10/23/2024 from Licensee, Wendy Ponzo (L1). The licensee is requesting a capacity of 14. The licensee stated she clearly understands the maximum number of children for whom care can be provided and the limitations on the number of infants (birth to age 2) that may be cared for and when two of the children in care must be school aged, and when an assistant provider must be present. LPA provided a “Capacity Regulations” handout with visual images of the capacity for Large Family Child Care Homes to L1. A review of staff records indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. The facility was toured inside and outside, and files reviewed during an Annual/Random inspection of the facility on today’s date 12/04/24. The facility’s operating hours are 08:00am - 05:00pm, Tuesday - Friday.

L1’s Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certificate expires 01/2025. There is a functional smoke/carbon monoxide detector and a charged fire extinguisher in the facility. The fire pull station is located in the room, labelled "Bedroom #1" on the facility sketch, to the left of the front door. The facility sketch was updated by L1 and submitted on 10/23/24 to added the main area of the backyard to the on-limits area, in addition to the home’s side yard. LPA inspected the main backyard during today’s inspection, approving it for use. The Santa Rosa Fire Department inspected and granted a fire clearance on 11/18/2024, and was emailed to LPA Strother on 11/20/24.

The increase capacity to 14, as a Large Family Child Care Home is granted as of today, 12/04/2024.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Wendy Ponzo .

There were no Title 22 deficiencies cited during today's inspection.
