25 | An unannounced visit was made to the facility today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Robert Maciel. A review of staff records on 1/13/2025 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. There are currently three adults living in the home.
During today’s inspection the home and grounds were toured. The licensee was supervising 2 children. The facility’s operating hours are Monday - Thursday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The on limits areas of the home are the living room, infant sleeping bedroom, the bathroom off the living room, and the blacktop outside. The "off limits" areas include all of the bedrooms/office except for the infant napping bedroom and kitchen, the backyard, and the driveway. These areas were made inaccessible by door locks, doorknob slipcovers, and child safety gates. The licensee stated there is a working telephone in the home. The licensee’s pediatric CPR and First Aid training certificate was reviewed and expires July 2026. Items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, etc.) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. The LPA observed a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A10BC, in the home. The licensee stated that firearms and ammunition are not stored on the premises and none were observed by the LPA. Licensee stated that poisons are locked in the linen cupboard next to the bathroom. The regulation that poisons are to be locked using a key or combination lock was reviewed.
