Applicant stated they understand that the storage of any poisons must be stored using a key or combination lock. LPA observed safe toys and equipment available for children. The home is equipped with a working smoke detector. The home did not have a carbon monoxide detector and will need to add one prior to licensure. The fire extinguisher is rated at least 2A10BC was charged, storage in the pantry.
Children will have access to an enclosed portion of the backyard, located closet to the door of the dining room. The portions of the home's backyard that are off limits are the deck area, and lower garden area, made inaccessible by a fence and gate. There is currently a fish pond in the off-limits portion of the backyard, the fencing and gate do not meet the requirements of the regulations. As the fencing is climbable, and less than 5 feet in some areas. The gate does swing away from the fish pond, but does not self-close. There is an empty two tier fountain near the fish pond. Rocks will need to be added to the fountain to avoid water pooling. No additional spa, pool, or fountain shall be added on the premises without prior approval of the Licensing agency. Any proposed changes to the physical plant, telephone number, or change of address shall be immediately reported to the Department.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Parents will be required to sign insurance affidavits if the provider does not plan to purchase additional child care liability insurance. Proof of control of property is on file. Parent's rights are posted. Emergency drills must be conducted at least once every six months and the date documented. LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311D, Forms/Records to Keep In Your Family Child Care Homes, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted. Entrance Checklist was provided to the applicant.
The roster (LIC9040) is to remain current at all times. Unusual Incident Report procedures were explained, to include notification before close of next business day and follow-up with written report to: cclrpregionalofficegeneral@dss.ca.gov , within seven days. The applicant will maintain current pediatric CPR, First Aid, and child abuse mandated reporter training certifications, to be renewed every two years.
