25 | On 01/21/2025, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Jose Ruiz and Aurelio Mendoza conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection of the preschool license, meeting with Director Mary Gonzales and touring the facility, located in Room 1 on the Lucas Elementary School campus. The facility operates Monday through Friday with a morning session (8:00 AM–11:15 AM) and an afternoon session (12:00 PM–3:15 PM).
The facility meets safety standards: poisons, hazardous items, and medications are securely stored; there are no pools or firearms on-site. LPAs reminded the facility of new AB 2866 pool safety regulations, effective 01/01/2025.
Furniture, equipment, and playground structures are in good condition. Outdoor activity areas are safe, with cushioning around high-risk equipment. Toilets, handwashing facilities, and carbon monoxide detectors are in working condition. Drinking water is available indoors and outdoors. Food is prepared in the school cafeteria and served in the classroom. Menus are posted in advance.
The facility maintains required ratios, and children are under visual supervision at all times. LPAs reviewed children’s and staff files, confirming they were complete with necessary documentation, including health screenings, immunizations, and mandated reporter training.
LPAs discussed the Community Care Licensing website (www.ccld.ca.gov) and reporting requirements. Director Mary Gonzales was reminded of the need for criminal record clearances for adults and penalties for non-compliance. The facility has completed water lead testing as required by AB 2370.
