32 | This is a two-story residence. The staircase was gated to prevent access when children under age five are present. The upstairs level remained off limits. LPA observed age-appropriate toys, safe play materials, and confirmed the home has working telephone service. The licensee stated that children are supervised at all times and never left unattended in parked vehicles.
At the licensee’s request, LPA inspected the backyard. The backyard was observed to be completely fenced, free of hazards, and appropriate for child care use. Children’s outdoor toys were observed in good condition.
A trampoline was observed in the backyard. It was within the age range of the children in care and was in proper working condition. LPA instructed the licensee to follow all manufacturer’s guidelines, to ensure that the zipping safety enclosure is closed before, during, and after use, and to repair, service, or discontinue use of the trampoline if it becomes weathered or structurally unsound.
The LIC 999 was updated and signed by both LPA and the licensee to reflect that the backyard is now included and approved for child care.
LPA reviewed children’s records, which contained required emergency information. The licensee’s Mandated Reporter Training is valid through 06/03/2028. The licensee’s Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification is valid through 04/11/2028. Records confirmed that all adults associated with the home have the required immunizations.
LPA reviewed the Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) website (www.ccld.ca.gov) with the licensee, including forms, regulations, Provider Information Notices (PINs), and Quarterly Updates. Reporting requirements under Title 22, Section 102416.2 were explained. LPA reminded the licensee that any adult 18 years or older living or working in the home must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to being present, and failure to comply may result in a civil penalty of 100 dollars per day per person, up to five days, and up to thirty days for repeat violations.
LPA reviewed Safe Sleep regulations and directed the licensee to the Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep. LPA advised checking the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website (www.cpsc.gov) for recalled infant devices and recommended registering children’s equipment with CPSC for recall notifications.
