A prelicensing inspection for a relocation was conducted today at 1:30pm by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Elizabeth Friese. LPA met with applicant Maria Vasquez-Melendrez. The licensee is requesting a license for a capacity of 14. The facility will operate Monday-Thursday, 7:30am to 5:00pm, and Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm. The residence is a 4 bedroom/2.5 bath single story home. There are 2 adults and 2 minors currently living in the home.

The home and yard were toured, and the facility sketch was verified. The following areas will be off limits to children: the outbuilding in the backyard and the yard area behind it, the garage, the master bedroom and bath, and the 2 minors' bedrooms. These areas have been made inaccessible by means of doorknob covers. Poisons will be locked in a cabinet in the garage. The home is equipped with a working smoke detector and fire extinguisher rated at least 2A10BC. The wood stove will be securely latched and is never to be used while children are in care. The children will use the backyard as the outdoor play area. The backyard is completely fenced. There is a pool on the property and applicant will obtain Title 22 approved fencing or pool cover which LPA Friese will verify prior to approval.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with applicant and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep, as an additional resource. LPA also informed applicant of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/, and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

On this date, 7/17/2024, the California Attorney General - Megan’s Law website was searched for information on sex offenders required to register with local law enforcement under California's Megan's Law. No registered sex offenders were found at the facility addresses. Under state law, some registered sex offenders are not subject to public disclosure; therefore, they may not have been included in this search. However, the Department conducts a monthly cross reference of each address on record for all registered sex offenders against all CCLD facility addresses pursuant to information shared by California DOJ.

Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
