On 07/28/2023 at 10:15 AM, an annual inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Kiriko Lynch and Noah Wheeler. At 10:15 AM the home was toured inside and outside. The licensee and two assistants were supervising 4 children and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. The facility’s operating hours are currently 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Thursday and 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Fridays. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The off-limits areas of the home are currently the entire upstairs, kitchen, laundry room, and detached garage/shop and are made inaccessible by gates, fencing, latches, locks. The children currently use the fenced backyard yard area as the main outdoor play area. The house utilizes ductless HVAC cooling/heating unit, and the house has a wood stove that is gated/fenced off. There were no pools or bodies of water observed in the yard.

Five children’s files were reviewed at 10:45 AM. Three staff files were also reviewed at 10:45 AM.

The licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with the licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
