| On March 7, 2024 Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Kari McWilliams and Chris Burnias conducted an unannounced case management visit and met with Preschool Technician Lisa Salazar. LPAs toured the facility inside and out and a census was taken. LPAs informed Preschool Technician the purpose of todays inspection.
During the annual inspection on March 7, 2024 LPAs observed that the outside play area was in a complete different area. The previous outside play area was on the south side of the the preschool classroom and was shared with the kindergarten classes. The new outside play area is the north side of the preschool classroom and is solely used by the preschool classes.
There is a chain link fencing surrounding the perimeter of the outdoor space is at least four feet high. The total square footage of the outdoor activity space for the preschool is 6,194 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 25 preschool children. Shade is provided via a mature tree in the center of the grass outdoor space as well as the building will provide natural shade.
There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. There is a large star shaped raised sand table, two play structures, one balancing structure and one climbing structure on the preschool playground for children which is properly anchored. There is adequate cushioning in fall zones of climber provided by rubberized playground surface cushioning. There is also a large grassy area.
Drinking water is available via water fountains on the west side of the classroom and personal water bottles that Preschool Technician stated will be brought outside. LPAs observed no hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Preschool Technician was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.
LPAs obtained a new facility sketch that shows the accuracy of the new outside play area.
