25 | On 2/16/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Theresa Marquez Associate Governmental Program Analyst Monica Belton conducted a Case Management inspection and met with licensee Danielle Panuco. The purpose of this inspection is in regards to a self reported incident that occurred at the day care home on 2/6/2024.
On 2/6/2024, Licensee was outside with 7 children when child #1 was climbing on the outside play structure, slipped, and hit her mouth knocking out one of her front teeth. Licensee applied First Aid and notified the child's mother. The child's mother arrived at the facility and took the child home for the day. The child did not go to the dentist per parents decision. The child returned to the day care the next day.
Licensee stated at the time of the incident she was assisting another child and did not witnessed the incident, but was able to review the incident on her RING camera.
LPA Marquez discussed with licensee Panuco the importance of reviewing the speculations of any play structure she utilizes at her day care and ensure the play structure is age appropriate for her daycare children. Licensee agreed to review the speculations for the play structure and will consider investing in a play structure for the children who are under 2 years of age and not allow the younger children to play on her existing play structure if not age appropriate.
This appears to be an isolated incident and licensee took appropriate measures to address the child's injury and reporting requirements to the licensing office.
Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3, of the California Code of Regulations no deficiencies were observed today. |
