32 | LPA observed the kitchen area of the CCC which has a refrigerator that stores food and beverages for children in care. Children have access to available drinking water both inside the classroom and outside in the play area.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
The CCC has two outdoor play areas that are separated for children of differing ages. The outdoor areas are fully enclosed, and the entry/exit points are secured. LPA observed age-appropriate toys/play equipment in the play area which are in suitable condition and the footing in the areas are varied. The play structures in the playground area have adequate cushioning material to absorb falls and there is shade available in the form of large trees. No bodies of water were observed on site.
A sample of staff and children’s records were reviewed. The children’s records are complete and found to contain emergency contact information, immunization records, and other required licensing forms. Staff records were reviewed and contain Mandated Reporter training, staff qualifications, and other required licensing documents. LPA notes the most recent emergency drill at the CCC was completed on 01/07/2026. Director noted no firearms or ammunition are stored on site.
