On September 22, 2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Case Management - Incident Inspection. LPA met with Director Heather Shields to discuss the an incident that was self reported Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) office on 8/30/2023. At the time of the inspection there were 32 children in care.

On 8/30/2023 the Director reported to CCLD that a child ran out the front door of the school.

LPA interviewed Director. Director stated that as the teacher was gathering the children to line up by the play yard door to go inside a child opened the door and ran down the hallway and went out the front door. Director stated that a different teacher saw him running out and notified the other staff. Director stated staff had visual of the child at all times. Director stated that the entire incident happened in under a minute. Director stated that this is the first time it has ever happened. Director stated that they brought the child back inside immediately and had a talk with them. Director notified parents of the incident and had them sign an incident report. Director stated that when they informed the parent that the parent did not freak out and stated that at home the child also attempts to run out.

Director showed LPA the door that the child opened and observed the door to be heavy and self closing.

Given that the child did not lack supervision and that the child did not leave the property no deficiencies are being issued as a result of this incident.

Notice of site visit was given, and should remain posted for a minimum of 30 days.
