32 | The Nurses flow sheet revealed no harm or abuse on admission. The final hospital diagnosis revealed suspected COVID-19, hyperglycemia, a mixed acid balance, and pneumonitis. Child’s parent followed up with a neuro doctor who revealed it possible food allergies played a role and the Rhino Virus may have lingered in the child’s system impacting the airway. Statements and reports did not reveal evidence which support neglect/abuse caused the hospitalization.
The child has returned to the facility for care since being discharged from the hospital. Based on LPAs observations, CCLD Investigation Bureau, Simi Valley Police Department, and Child Protective Services and interviews which were conducted and record review(s), the preponderance of evidence standard has been met, therefore the allegation(s): an infant in care was hospitalized, is found to be SUBSTANTIATED.
No deficiencies are being cited.
