32 | Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the Licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
Medications, sharps, and cleaning supplies were observed to be in areas of the CCC that are accessible to staff and inaccessible to children in care. The restrooms in the CCC are in clean and sanitary operating condition and changing tables at the CCC are within arm’s reach sinks. The CCC uses the BrightWheel application for Sign In/Sign Out purposes. LPA notes the Sign In/Out application contain entries from the authorized parents/guardians.
The CCC's outdoor play area is enclosed and are separate from the preschool play areas. The fence’s entry/exit points are secured and the footing in the area is varied. LPA observed age-appropriate toys/play equipment and there is adequate cushioning material to absorb falls. LPA observed ample shade provided by trees and shade sails. LPA notes there are no bodies of water on site.
Staff and children’s records were reviewed. The children’s records were complete and found to contain emergency contact information, immunization records, and other required licensing forms. LPA reviewed a sampling of Individual Needs/Services, Sleep Plans, and a log capturing sleep checks in 15-minute intervals. Staff records were reviewed and found to be current with CPR/First Aid training, staff qualifications, and other required licensing forms. LPA notes there is a security guard with a firearm at the entry of the CCC. LPA verified the CCC has a waiver for regulation 101238(g)(2) to have an armed security guard on the premises.
