25 | On 9/23/24, at 9:45am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Shane Loftus and Veronica Diaz conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection of the facility. LPAs met with Elizabeth Brunsell and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPAs in the company of licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the Family Child Care Home (FCCH). The FCCH is composed of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, kitchen, and backyard. The living room, kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms and backyard are used for child care. There were two children in care at the time of inspection.
The 2A10 BC fire extinguisher was purchased on 4/30/24. LPAs reminded licensee the fire extinguisher needs to be either serviced or newly purchased annually. There is a dual carbon monoxide and smoke detector which was tested at 10:10 am and found to be functional. During inspection of children’s bathroom, LPAs observed a razor on the sink. Bathroom door is shut during day care and secured with child safety lock. LPAs discussed the importance of keeping sharp objects in a secure place that is inaccessible to children in care. The facility is orderly and has ventilation for childcare services. LPAs observed two play pens that meet the safety requirements in the bedroom of the FCCH. The FCCH’s backyard, used for outdoor activities, is enclosed by wooden fencing, the entry/exit gates are secure. The outdoor area has plenty of shade for the children in care. The FCCH has a fireplace that is covered with mesh fencing. Toys and equipment observed in the FCCH are age appropriate. Licensee stated there are no guns or ammunition in the home.
