25 | On 05/25/2023 at 9:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Francisca Velazquez conducted an unannounced One Year Required Inspection of the Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Catrina Melendez-Santos, licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of licensee toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. LPA notes ten (10) children are present being cared by licensee and assistant/spouse of licensee.
This is a single-story home with three (3) bedrooms, two (2) bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen with laundry area, garage, and outdoor yard. The daycare services occur in the living room, dining area, one (1) bedroom used for napping, one (1) bathroom in the hallway of the home, and part of the outdoor yard. Meanwhile, the kitchen, two (2) bedrooms, one (1) bathroom, garage and part of the outdoor yard are inaccessible to children in care. LPA notes there are two baby gates located in the kitchen area making the kitchen and laundry area inaccessible to children in care. Additionally, there is a baby gate in the hallway, making two (2) bedrooms one (1) bathroom inaccessible. The garage is detached from the home and inaccessible to the children in care. Lastly, the sides of outdoor yards have fencing making the sides of the outdoor yard inaccessible to children in care.
LPA observed the home to be clean and orderly. There is plenty of ventilation to afford the children comfort. LPA observed an open face heater in the living room that is covered and secured. LPA observed sharps are stored in a drawer in the kitchen. Cleaning compounds are stored under the sink of the kitchen with a magnetic lock and in elevated shelves in the laundry area. Medication for the family is stored in the bathroom that is in licensee’s bedroom. LPA notes all areas are inaccessible to children in care by means of baby gates or magnetic locks. The restroom that is used for childcare services is clean and free of toxins. In the FCCH, LPA observed toys, furniture, and equipment are in good conditions and are age appropriate for the children in care. CONT 809-C |
